Re: ZARATE
The difference now is the dough he owes out, if there's one thing that will make you concentrate on being a good professional and trying your absolute best, it's the threat of being potless. I shouldn't think he'll be kicking up too much of a fuss not starting, and when he gets his chance, he'll be desperate to grab it.

I like him as a player, and I reckon he could be one to link up well with Payet.

Re: ZARATE
Could go either way, this one - still has a lot to prove. I reckon he will be a useful squad player and will get some appearances, mostly as a sub, maybe. I just hope he doesn't expect to walk straight into the first team.

I hope he comes good but considering his history of tantrums I'm not holding my breath.

So why did he not get a game for QPR, and get sent home from a match after refusing to be on the bench then?

Surely if he was decent, with an attitude to match, he'd have been first name down for a struggling team, wouldn't he?

I have heard him being compared to 'The Nearly Man', Diamanti.

Re: ZARATE
Not worried about his attitude in the slightest.... just an excuse from BFS to ship out a Sullivan signing that was not the fat fuckers type as far as I'm concerned....everytime I have seen him play he has offered something different and he clearly wants to play... he is prone to take one touch too many but Slav will iron that out... will be a great squad player this season.

Zarate, Payet & Lanzini are going to bring some excitement back this season!

In Europe this season. Admittedly against pub teams but at least tries to make something happen

Get him fit and some game time and he will come good, has been one of our best players so far

I guess my problem with him other than his attitude is that he always looks like he might make something happen but hasn't that often yet.

That being said he looks like he is working hard, lets see what he can do. If he willing to stay fit and be a backup to Payet and at forward, he should get a fair number of chances to show what he can do.

El Scorchio 12:20 Mon Jul 20
Re: Zarate
Lightweight, runs down blind alleys, doesn't look up or work for his team mates nearly enough, and I think his attitude last season stank.

If aspects of his game can be improved, there's a decent footballer in there because he's technically sound, but I fear he'll always be too powder puff for the premier league.

Shouldn't be first choice for us unless there are a host of injuries to other players.

Re: ZARATE
I love to see a player run with the ball at his feet and found that another aspect of Allardyce's football lacking.

Of course he's going to run up the odd blind alley but I guess Messi was busy when we tried to sign him.

Some people find him irritating a bit like Alex Song when he 'over-elaborates' but personally I love players like that and against the Maltese team he looked like the only player really trying to make something happen.

Re: ZARATE
Okay. Personally I'd rather see Payet, Sakho and Valencia when fit, and would expect us to sign another forward. We then (apparently) have Carrol coming back one day. All of these options are preferable to Zarate, but he could also step in or come on for any of them.

Re: ZARATE
He is not cover for anyone.
He should make match day squads in his own right.

Fivetide 9:53 Mon Jul 20
Re: ZARATE
Seems reasonable cover for all the forward positions to me.

Yep. He seems to be suffering from the old 'one touch too many' syndrome at the moment.

But, it looks like he's putting the effort in and working hard to get into the first team.

Re: ZARATE
I'm willing to give the bloke a chance. I get the impression he'll sink fairly quickly if he misbehaves and doesn't follow the rules under Bilic.

Personally, he's got a long way to go to start. I've only seen flashes of him and even then he seems hit and miss.

SnarestoneIron 9:44 Mon Jul 20
Re: ZARATE
Too greedy for my liking. Maybe with some better players around him, he will release the ball when he should instead of thinking he's got to do it all himself.
